Open Questions

These are unresolved. They need many minds.

The framework has 13 known major open questions. Each is a potential research or framework contribution. Check open Issues to see if one is already being worked on -- or open a new one.

  1. The Developing World Problem How do you transition a globalized economy without leaving developing nations worse off during the transition? The directory now covers ~180 countries with uneven depth -- Brazil and Australia are strong, most of Africa and Asia are thin. The data gap mirrors the problem.

  2. The Nation-State Question What role do existing nation-states play? Do they dissolve, federate, or transform?

  3. The Power Vacuum Problem How do you prevent a post-transfer power vacuum from being filled by authoritarians?

  4. Historical Justice What does justice look like for historical wrongs (colonialism, slavery, ecological destruction) without creating new cycles of resentment?

  5. The Non-Participant Problem How do you handle people who genuinely don't want to participate in collective governance?

  6. After Prisons What replaces prisons? What does accountability look like without punishment?

  7. AI Governance How do you govern AI development during and after the transition? This question is more urgent in 2026 than when the framework was first drafted.

  8. Diversity Under Collectivism How do you maintain cultural and individual diversity in a system designed for collective wellbeing?

  9. Spirituality and Belief What is the role of spirituality, religion, and personal belief systems?

  10. Ideological Ossification How do you keep this framework from becoming the very kind of rigid ideology it seeks to replace?

  11. The Leaderless Coordination Problem How does a fully open, leaderless network coordinate action at global scale without becoming either chaotic or quietly hierarchical?

  12. Transparency Failure Modes If transparency is the security model, what are its failure modes? When -- if ever -- is openness genuinely dangerous?

  13. The Timing Problem What happens if the technological tipping point arrives before the network is ready? Given the pace of AI capability gains in 2025-2026, this may be the most urgent question on the list.
