sanazabbasnejad/README.md

Hi, I'm Sanaz Abbasnejad

I am a Biomedical Engineering undergraduate specializing in Bioelectric Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), with a minor in Electrical Engineering.

My research interests focus on the intersection of biomedical engineering and intelligent computational systems, particularly in rehabilitation engineering, computer vision, eye tracking, biomedical signal processing, and machine learning in healthcare.

Research Interests

  • Rehabilitation Engineering
  • Computer Vision for Healthcare
  • Technology-Assisted Rehabilitation
  • Eye Tracking
  • Biomedical Signal Processing
  • Machine Learning in Healthcare
  • Human Movement Analysis

Selected Research Projects

Vision-Based Gamified Rehabilitation System

Designed and developed a webcam-based, sensor-free rehabilitation system for guided neck and scapular exercises.

The system uses computer vision and real-time markerless tracking to detect:

  • Neck flexion and extension
  • Left and right lateral bending
  • Chin tuck
  • Scapular elevation
  • Scapular retraction

The platform includes personalized calibration, exercise-hold timing, real-time visual feedback, progress tracking, and movement-performance analysis.

A preliminary usability and acceptance evaluation was conducted with 40 participants.

Technologies: Python, OpenCV, MediaPipe, Computer Vision

Repository and demonstration materials coming soon.

Webcam-Based Eye Tracking with Eyeglass Artifact Reduction

Developing a webcam-based eye-tracking system designed to improve tracking reliability in the presence of eyeglasses.

The project investigates challenges including:

  • Lens reflections
  • Partial eye and pupil occlusion
  • Eyeglass-induced visual distortion
  • Head movement during gaze estimation

Technologies: Python, OpenCV, MediaPipe, Machine Learning

Research and repository documentation are currently in progress.
