What this is

A community-facing RFC that outlines the five backbone milestones for the Livepeer agent framework, so the community can read the plan and get on the same page ahead of kickoff.

It follows the Livepeer 2.0 RFC template (metadata → summary → goals as measurable invariants → non-goals → current state → milestones → operator impact → delivery order → open questions → comment window), adapted so the five milestones are the spine. Each milestone states:

  • the problem it solves
  • the key architecture decisions
  • the main dependencies (+ a one-line "done when" gate)

The milestones:

  1. Live Runner + SDK release — gateway-less network access via a remote signer
  2. Capability onboarding — expose the capability schema for no-code, community onboarding
  3. Real-world validation — connect go-to-market with the supplier side
  4. QoS + performance monitoring — measure node quality and route traffic accordingly
  5. Billing + metering clean house — handle every pricing model, drop the Daydream key dependency

Review notes

  • This is a Draft for comment (v0.1). The comment window and close date are stated in the doc.
  • A few placeholders are intentional for the author to finalize on publish: the forum discussion-thread link, and exact protocol naming in Milestone 1 (flagged as an open question).
  • The content is drawn from the network workstream milestone interview; the KPI / internal-org discussion was deliberately left out since the audience is the community.

Community-facing RFC outlining the five backbone milestones for the
Livepeer agent framework: Live Runner + SDK release, community capability
onboarding, real-world validation, QoS/performance monitoring, and
billing/metering clean house. Each milestone states the problem it solves,
key architecture decisions, and main dependencies, following the Livepeer
2.0 RFC template.
