Aarch64 support

Hey, was wondering if we could enable aarch64 in the release builds? I don't immediately see anything that's x86 only. It's mostly bash scripts isn't it?

full aarch64 support was added in #722, which will be included in the next release. Due to the nature of how loading device trees works (it's embedded in the EFI image), we cannot release a generally-useful EFI image for aarch64, and building your own image will be required.

why not? the industry is slowly moving towards ARM: apple's laptops and even microsoft's laptops are both ARM architecture already.

neither support ACPI, so they need a device tree. this has to be built into the image to work.

aarch64 is far far too diverse for us to consider offering a generic image. Even for devices with in-tree drivers, there's no way for us to even adequately check if the Void kernel has them enabled.

There's also no way for us to reasonably check if the generic EFI works on hardware we don't have - that's not really a problem x86_64 faces.

Our position is that if you're in the Linux world deep enough to want to run root on ZFS on aarch64, making your own image should be fairly trivial for you.
