bug: Request rule does not work when when request content type is application/x-www-form-urlencoded

Describe your issue?

I am creating a Modify Request Body type rule and after creating if I refresh My Rules page I see that the newly added rule is not enabled. If I manually enable it now, it gets enabled on the frontend but when I refresh the My Rules page I find that the same rule is still not enabled.

Can you please share the following details?

1. Does this happen only with modify request body rule or with other rule types as well?
2. Does this happen when you are logged in or logged out?

I was logged in and I have at least tried redirection option. For redirection this doesn’t happen. I have also tried creating group and activating/deactivating it. No issues with groups either.

Hi @nafees87n,

I just gave it a try again this morning and now I am able to enable/disable the rule. Not sure what changed since I first observed this issue.

Anyway, right now I am still stuck with progress as the Modify Request Rule doesn't seem to intercept the API request in the browser. The same condition when setup under a Redirect Rule works fine.

@kapoor-varun Glad to know that bug was fixed.
Regarding rule not working, please ensure that the URL on which you are trying to apply the rule is an XHR/fetch request. The extension modify request rule can only be applied XHR/fetch requests.

If you want to apply the rule for document or other types of requests, please use our desktop app. It can override all sorts of requests.

Context of the bug

The Request is triggered through HTML form submission (using a <form> element with method="POST"). The browser initiates the request as part of the standard navigation flow. As it does not initiate from a JS API (fetch/XHR) we are not able to intercept it.

The user's use case is to override the request body of this form submission.
