IOS-DFU-Library has an alternativeAdvertisingName and send the 0x02 opcode to actually set the name on the device before jumping to bootloader. I known this isn't necessary to Android since Android get access to the MAC address and don't need the device name to identify it. Though in some situation a custom name might be helpful for end user to identify a device stuck at bootloader after update failure.
