Question on adding additional metrics for core apps/v1 resources via customResourceState

Hello, I would like to check if its possible (and if not if its a feature that could be added), to add additional metrics for core resources like StatefulSet / Deployment / Daemonset by re-using the mechanism of customResourceState ?
My use case is I want to add metrics about ownerRefs of StatefulSet and Daemonset, for example to track upwards the owner tree when Grafana Alloy operator owns via Alloy CR the above workloads.
Is there any existing workaround to achieve this?

This issue is currently awaiting triage.

Is my understanding correctly that this is intentional and will not work even if i try to skip the metrics of the native objects altogether with --custom-resource-state-only to true ?
Refering to "any such configuration will be ignored, and no metrics will be generated for the same"
