Footnotes in Specifications table broken

Only one (out of four) renders, and it is numbered wrong.

I'm guessing the new version of mdbook (or something to do with that?) has changed the behaviour re. footnote (references). Building the book produces a warning for each of the missing footnotes:

 WARN footnote `compat` in `Specifications.md` is defined but not referenced
 WARN footnote `dmg_clk` in `Specifications.md` is defined but not referenced

It looks like the issue is the lack of markdown flavoured references (there are only HTML links to these footnotes). i.e. there is no [^sgb_vid] (etc.) in the markdown. There is, however, a reference ([^sgb_clk]) to the one footnote that does render.

I am unfortunately not seeing a way to fix this without generating <p> elements inside the <table>, which is a problem.
