While this change could also be done manually, having it as an add-on would allow for syncing this across devices, as search engines sadly don't get synced. Sadly, at least the add-on store doesn't allow for installation on Firefox for Android. I haven't checked if this can be installed manually, but installing it manually would defeat the whole purpose of allowing cross-device sync.
