Ligatures renders the content unexpectedly

Describe the bug
On many pages in the docs where code is displayed, the ligature feature of the mono font used, produces weird results (e.g. hiding white space characters or render ligatures on top of text)

Expected behavior
no weird rendering issues

Do you think that disabling the ligatures is solving the issue?
If so, can you please assign this issue to me? I already have found a place to add the css class
