Idea for Search Function

Hello Steve,

I just started to use KillerNotes as replacement for Notepad++.
Fully agree with you that we as IT guys produce lots of snippets, notes and sensible information each day - and this should be encrypted.

Working my way into KillerNotes I found the Function "F3"-Search could be improved in highlighting each found entry when pressing "F3" repeatedly.
Currently the Search just show the Group or Subgroup in which the found phrase is included, but the notes could be 100 or 500 lines long and there I start to search again with my eyes for the entry in the Text.

Say, I like to find "WLAN" in all of my notes - pressing F3 first time will bring me to the search field where I type in WLAN - then pressing again F3 shows me the first text passage in my note at the right part of the screen - highlighted. Pressing again F3 shows the next finding and so on.

Just my 2 cents here.

Second this idea.
In fact, I was about to write similar thing. Just wanted to ask is this possible to go further and move/focus to the next note containing WLAN (once all matches in the current note have been visited).
If cycling through notes is technically problematic, then maybe additional modeless window giving preview e.g. title of the note and 3 lines "around" WLAN, to get the context and quickly identify note one is searching for.

Hello Markus, thanks, and glad it's replacing Notepad++ for you.

This is exactly right and it's the headline for the next release. The sidebar search only tells you which note contains the phrase, which is not much help in a 500-line note. What's coming: Ctrl+F opens a find bar over the editor, with every match highlighted in place, a match count, F3/Shift+F3 to step forward and back through them, and wrap-around. The sidebar box keeps doing the cross-note search it does now.

@culture-work, cycling on to the next matching note once the current one is exhausted is a good idea, I'll look at it once the in-note stepping is in. The preview window for context is worth considering too, though the highlighted in-note view may cover most of that need.

Same request from #14, so I'll keep the main tracking there, but this one stays open until it ships.
