[Feature]: No window popup after capture and hiding from dock option.

Summary

I'd like to see a feature allowing to hide the app to the Menu Bar so its not always in the dock and to stop the Window popup after taking a screenshot, instead instantly copying to the clipboard.

Use Case

Disabling the window popup is for people who wouldnt like to constantly be bothered by some window every time they take a screenshot and instead would like it to copy to the clipboard insantly. This would also be way faster for a ton of people.

Disabling the dock icon is for people who would like to not have any unneeded clutter in their docks instead cluttering their menu bar instead.

I've tried to CMD + W the window mentioned and that didnt work. Not sure how i'd be able to hide it from the dock though.

Recommendation: keep open.

Evidence checked in this run: current develop already has configurable after-capture behavior. The task settings include CopyImageToClipboard, the UI exposes Show after capture window, and workflow completion avoids navigating the main window when SilentRun is enabled. XerahS also has tray support plus Show tray icon and Start minimized to tray settings.

Remaining gap: this issue asks specifically for a Menu Bar style mode with no Dock presence, and I did not find a macOS-specific Dock hiding implementation such as an activation-policy or LSUIElement path. Next step: treat this as a macOS UX follow-up, likely split into "after-capture copy-only workflow" documentation/UI polish and "hide Dock icon / menu-bar app mode" implementation.

Clarifying the macOS Dock question: yes, it is technically possible via LSUIElement (set Info.plist LSUIElement=YES) which hides the Dock icon entirely and leaves only the Menu Bar icon. XerahS currently does not ship this as a configurable option. For a true menu-bar-only mode, two things would be needed: (1) activation-policy=accessory in the app bundle, and (2) a settings flag to write that at build or runtime. This is a legitimate feature gap worth keeping open. Recommend closing this follow-up and keeping issue #252 open as a macOS UX enhancement with two separate sub-items: after-capture silent copy, and LSUIElement menu-bar mode.

Re-checked against current develop (v0.23.64–v0.23.67). Confirming prior review stands.

Current develop supports: configurable after-capture clipboard copy, silent run, tray icon, and start minimized to tray. The LSUIElement menu-bar-only mode (no Dock icon) is still not implemented as a configurable option. Recommend keeping #252 open as a macOS UX enhancement with two sub-items: (1) silent after-capture copy-only workflow polish, (2) LSUIElement activation-policy menu-bar mode.

New evidence on macOS menu-bar-only (hide from dock) path:

• src/platform/XerahS.Platform.MacOS/Services/MacOSApplicationActivationPolicy.cs now implements MacOSActivationPolicy.Accessory vs Regular and TryApplyMenuBarOnlyMode(bool) using NSApplication.setActivationPolicy: via libobjc.
• src/platform/XerahS.Platform.MacOS/Services/MacOSSystemService.cs exposes IsMenuBarOnlyModeSupported = true and SetMenuBarOnlyMode(bool).
• src/platform/XerahS.Platform.Abstractions/ISystemService.cs adds the cross-platform interface (no-op defaults for non-macOS).
• src/desktop/app/XerahS.UI/App.axaml.cs::ApplyMenuBarOnlyModeFromSettings is now called from both OnFrameworkInitializationCompleted and the settings save path (SettingsViewModel.cs line 439), and toggles MainWindow.ShowInTaskbar.
• Unit tests in tests/XerahS.Tests/Platform/MacOS/MacOSApplicationActivationPolicyTests.cs cover the policy mapping and the no-op-off-macOS path.

Silent after-capture copy behaviour remains configurable as before (CopyImageToClipboard + SilentRun + ShowAfterCaptureWindow).

Remaining gap: the menu-bar-only toggle is currently driven by the existing SilentRun setting rather than a discoverable dedicated "Menu Bar only / hide Dock icon" preference. That makes the behaviour work but not self-explanatory in the UI. The "no window popup after capture" half is already covered by the existing after-capture settings.

Recommendation: keep #252 open. Sub-items status:

1. Silent after-capture copy-only workflow — implemented.
2. LSUIElement / activation-policy menu-bar mode — implementation present on macOS, but the user-facing setting still rides on SilentRun. Suggest a follow-up to expose a dedicated "Menu Bar only" preference and document it.

Recommendation: keep #252 open as the macOS UX enhancement tracker. The remaining concrete gap is a dedicated, user-facing "Menu Bar only / hide Dock icon" preference (decoupled from SilentRun) with discoverable UI text, plus release-note coverage so existing users find the toggle. The companion macOS launch / distribution work tracked in #256 (XIP0078 P1/P2) is still in-flight and is the prerequisite for a clean user experience of menu-bar-only mode on signed, notarized builds.

Implemented in develop a7d83956 (the feature itself is in develop b89d39a5).

A new "Disable notification window" checkbox is now available in Application Settings → Notifications. When enabled, every ToastWindow popup is suppressed — including the post-capture/post-upload toast from issue #252. Capture, upload, clipboard copy, save, and other configured actions still run normally; only the corner toast popup is hidden.

Changes:

• DisableToastNotification field added to ApplicationConfig
• SettingsViewModel loads/saves/resets the new property
• New Notifications panel in ApplicationSettingsView.axaml with the checkbox
• AvaloniaToastService.ShowToast short-circuits with an early return when the global toggle is on, silencing every toast call site (post-task completion, SendTo, ColorPicker, OCR, etc.) at the single chokepoint

Only the ToastWindow disable is addressed here. The second request in the issue — a "Hide from Dock" option for macOS — is a separate platform-specific concern that I have not implemented.
