Contributor License Agreement (CLA)

Thank you for your interest in contributing to this project.

This Contributor License Agreement ("Agreement") defines the terms under which you ("Contributor") grant rights to your Contributions to the Project Owner.

1. Definitions

"Project" means the repository and all related source code, documentation, and materials.

"Contribution" means any work submitted by you to the Project, including but not limited to source code, patches, commits, pull requests, documentation, or other materials.

"Project Owner" means Constantin Müller, or any legal entity designated by Constantin Müller as the owner or maintainer of the Project.

2. Grant of Rights (Grant of Nutzungsrechte)

You hereby grant to the Project Owner a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, perform, display, sublicense, and relicense your Contributions, in whole or in part, in any form and for any purpose.

This includes, without limitation, the unrestricted right for the Project Owner to:

  • use Contributions in open source software;
  • use Contributions in proprietary or closed-source software;
  • change the license of the Project or Contributions at any time;
  • distribute Contributions under any license terms;
  • sublicense Contributions to third parties;
  • use Contributions for commercial purposes;
  • incorporate Contributions into software offered as a service (SaaS);
  • transfer or assign these rights to another individual or legal entity;
  • relicense Contributions under different license terms, including proprietary licenses.

These rights are granted as Nutzungsrechte to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, including German copyright law (Urheberrechtsgesetz).

3. Retention of Copyright

You retain ownership of the copyright in your Contributions.

This Agreement grants the Project Owner comprehensive, perpetual, and unrestricted usage rights necessary to operate, modify, commercialize, and relicense the Project and Contributions.

4. Irrevocability

The rights granted under this Agreement are perpetual and irrevocable. Once granted, these rights cannot be withdrawn, revoked, or terminated.

5. Contributor Representations and Warranties

You represent and warrant that:

  • You are the original author of your Contributions, or you have sufficient rights to submit them;
  • You have the legal authority to grant the rights described in this Agreement;
  • Your Contributions do not knowingly infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

6. No Obligation to Accept Contributions

The Project Owner is not obligated to accept, use, or distribute any Contribution.

7. No Compensation

You acknowledge that Contributions are provided voluntarily and without expectation of compensation.

8. Transfer of Project Ownership

The Project Owner may transfer ownership of the Project and the rights granted under this Agreement to another individual or legal entity, including a company controlled by the Project Owner.

9. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

10. Acceptance

By submitting a Contribution to the Project, you agree to the terms of this Agreement.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not submit Contributions.
