Citing the seqviz library

Hi There,

I have been using your seqviz library (the visualisation is excellent 🤩 ) and have actually wrapped it in a thin wrapper so we can use it in markdown documents. I'd really like to be able to properly point back to you/your-group as authors when I write about that and the in plugin docs we have for including it.

Is there a way to Cite the package(s) or a paper that talks about them? (we also use seqparse) How else could we give attribution?

Hi @stevejpurves -- Thank you for this, and for taking the time to ask! It's great to hear that our tools have been useful.

We've just added a CITATION.cff file to both repos. You should see a button that says "Cite this repository" in the sidebar in each repo, which auto-generates a formatted citation. I hope that covers what you need for the plugin docs and any write-ups you make. If you do end up writing about it, we'd love to know.

Thanks @leshane! An initial blog post a while back, which I'll update with this info, is here https://opensci.dev/articles/seqviz-plugin. However, we're just setting up some package management around our plugins and I want to make sure the plugin docs properly references / cites you.

Hi @leshane, I've gone ahead and picked up the citation info, I just wanted to check if you were Zenodo users? and if you know you could get a DOI for the packages by using zenodo and pointing it to you repos. https://coderefinery.github.io/github-without-command-line/doi/

Re: Zenodo -- We are not currently using Zenodo, but that is a good suggestion and I think we will set that up. I'll ping this thread once that's set up to close the loop.
