LEGO Super Mario protocol?

The recently released teaser about LEGO+Nintendo products shows Mario has a BlueTooth button in the back.

Is it the same protocol as Powered Up?

Will the protocol of LEGO Super Mario be documented in this repo?

I do believe it’s the same basic protocol, believe I read that somewhere, but unfortunately I can’t provide a source or reference for that statement 😕
