Given the high importance of an adequate representation of the Mediterranean Outflow demonstrated by GOSI10na+, we will try to improve it in the mainstream GOSI but it's uncertain we can adopt GOSIna+ in GOSI11.
We need to investigate:
- What others have tested e.g. Torge Martin mentioned a relaxation to climatology?
- T,S diagrams in the Med Sea comparing model and climatology, to check if there are biases
- Design and run experiments to test best approach to target the neutrally buoyant depth and T,S properties of the outflow in the Gulf of Cadiz: correct upstream biases (T,S in the Med Sea), nudge local T,S to climatological values over a given timescale, use different vertical coordinates, use special parametrisation in the Gulf of Cadiz (eddies, tides?), increase diffusivity?
