Thank you for contributing to TransitOS. This agreement keeps the project sustainable while protecting your rights and the community's. It is short on purpose.
This is a license, not an assignment. You retain full ownership of every contribution you make. Nothing here transfers your copyright to anyone.
You grant the maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, and distribute your contribution as part of TransitOS, under:
- the GNU AGPL-3.0, or any later OSI-approved open-source license the project later adopts; and
- a commercial license, so the project can also be offered to organizations that cannot comply with the AGPL (dual-licensing).
This dual-license grant is exactly what lets TransitOS stay free for everyone while keeping a sustainable funding path.
The maintainer promises that a free, open-source version of TransitOS will always be available under an OSI-approved license. Your contributions to the public project will never be locked behind a paywall.
You confirm that your contribution is your original work (or that you have the rights to submit it), that you have the authority to grant the license above, and that it does not, to your knowledge, infringe anyone else's rights. This mirrors the Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO).
Your contribution is provided "as is", without warranties or support obligations of any kind.
If you are contributing on behalf of your employer, your employer must have authorized this contribution, and you accept the agreement on their behalf.
This is a community template, not legal advice. For a specific commercial transaction, the parties should obtain independent legal review.
By submitting a pull request, you confirm that you have read and agree to this Contributor License Agreement and to the Developer Certificate of Origin.
