Thinking: An OMERO plugin / feature to generate OME-Zarr at import stage

Currently importing images to OMERO triggers image pyramid generation.

Would it make sense to have an option to auto-convert data to OME-Zarr upon ingesting into OMERO? How would that even look?

Workflow:

PFF --> upload to OMERO --> Pyramidal OME-Zarr created (perhaps on an S3-like microservice) --> Viz in iviewer/figure uses pixels from OME-Zarr
