Thank you for your interest in contributing to AstroLina ("the Project").
This Contributor License Agreement ("Agreement") sets out the terms under which You provide Contributions to the Project maintained by AstroLina ("We" or "Us"). It protects You as a contributor and Us (and the Project's users), and it lets Us continue to develop, distribute, and license the Project, including the freedom to license it under different terms in the future.
You accept and agree to these terms for Your present and future Contributions submitted to the Project. Except for the licenses granted here to Us, You retain all right, title, and interest in and to Your Contributions.
- "You" / "Your" means the individual who submits a Contribution to Us, or the legal entity on whose behalf the Contribution is submitted.
- "Contribution" means any original work of authorship, including any modifications or additions to an existing work, that is intentionally submitted by You to Us for inclusion in, or documentation of, any of the products owned or managed by Us (the "Work"). "Submitted" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to Us or our representatives, including but not limited to communication on source-code control systems, issue trackers, and mailing lists, but excluding any communication conspicuously marked or otherwise designated in writing by You as "Not a Contribution."
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, You hereby grant to Us, and to recipients of software distributed by Us, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute Your Contributions and such derivative works.
You further grant Us the right to license and relicense Your Contributions, and to distribute the Work that includes Your Contributions, under any license terms of Our choosing, including open-source licenses (such as the GNU AGPL-3.0) and proprietary or commercial licenses. This right includes the ability to offer the Work under multiple licenses simultaneously (dual licensing). Nothing in this Agreement obligates Us to use Your Contribution or to distribute it under any particular license.
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, You hereby grant to Us, and to recipients of software distributed by Us, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by You that are necessarily infringed by Your Contribution alone or by combination of Your Contribution with the Work to which You submitted it. If any entity institutes patent litigation against You or any other entity alleging that Your Contribution, or the Work to which You have contributed, constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to that entity under this Agreement for that Contribution or Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.
You represent that:
a. You are legally entitled to grant the above licenses. If Your employer(s) have rights to intellectual property that You create that includes Your Contributions, You represent that You have received permission to make Contributions on behalf of that employer, that Your employer has waived such rights for Your Contributions to Us, or that Your employer has executed a separate Entity / Corporate CLA with Us.
b. Each of Your Contributions is Your original creation (see section 5 for submissions on behalf of others).
c. Your Contributions include complete details of any third-party license or other restriction (including, but not limited to, related patents and trademarks) of which You are personally aware and which are associated with any part of Your Contributions.
Should You wish to submit work that is not Your original creation, You may submit it to Us separately from any Contribution, identifying the complete details of its source and of any license or other restriction (including, but not limited to, related patents, trademarks, and license agreements) of which You are personally aware, and conspicuously marking the work as "Submitted on behalf of a third party: [named here]".
You are not expected to provide support for Your Contributions, except to the extent You desire to provide support. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, You provide Your Contributions on an "AS IS" basis, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
You agree to notify Us of any facts or circumstances of which You become aware that would make these representations inaccurate in any respect.
By submitting a Contribution to the Project (for example, by opening a pull request) and confirming your agreement as prompted (e.g. via the CLA assistant, or by adding your details below in your pull request), You indicate acceptance of this Agreement for that and all future Contributions.

If You are contributing on behalf of a company or other legal entity, the entity must agree to an Entity / Corporate CLA on the same license-grant terms as above, executed by an authorized signatory and listing the individuals authorized to submit Contributions on the entity's behalf. Contact us via https://astrolina.org to arrange this.
